Melisa (Mel) is an IBCLC and Pre/Postpartum Nutrition Coach. Her approach is sustainability for YOU as the parent. Melisa is knowledgeable in helping feed babies from the chest, pumping, combination (formula and human milk), or formula. Melisa understands the challenges you may face while feeding your little one and how tough it can feel to care for yourself as well. She is passionate about reminding parents to fuel their bodies with good food and not being restrictive as they navigate those early weeks/months. With Melisa, your concerns will be heard, validated, and supported.
Why Choose Melisa and My Nourishing Moment, LLC for your Nutrition Support?
Melisa knows first hand, what it is like and means to struggle with breastfeeding. Melisa has four amazing children and out of her four children, she only actually breastfed two of them. She much like other mothers was told how easy breastfeeding was, but with her oldest in 2004 no one else told or helped her figure out how to even get that baby to latch. In 2007, she had her second child and was wanting to give breastfeeding a go again. Unfortunately that “easy part” didn’t come so easy for her and her new baby. She struggled with latch issues, weight gain (for the baby), pain, and supply concerns (which is absolutely common for the majority of moms out there). Again with no support in sight, she completed six weeks of breastfeeding before switching to formula. Her third child was born in 2014 and she was determined to breastfeed this child, with or without the help of support. She studied and learned as much as she could, but it did nothing to prepare her for those issues of latch, weight, pain, and supply. She fought through all of these on her own and did end up reaching her goal of breastfeeding for 1 year, eventually weaning at the age of 2. Then in 2018, when her youngest was born, even after all her training, she again encountered struggles of breastfeeding. These experiences alone have concreted her decision that she was going to be that support for other mommies and families. To let them know that the way they feel and their concerns are real. She wanted to make sure that all families regards are able to afford lactation care and still get high quality support.
Melisa also knows first hand how hard it can be to ensure you are eating properly to help grow you baby. Not only the worry of eating properly but the idea of weight you have to gain to properly grow your baby. She also understands the frustrations that can come after baby is born and trying to make sure you eat enough to maintain a supply if you choose to breastfeed. Or making sure your body is fueled to keep up with the demands of a new baby and or your older children. Most of all, how frustrating it can be to try and get back to a space where you feel good about yourself. She is here to listen and support you, so that you can get back to being YOU!
No mother should ever need to worry if they are making the right choice in feeding their baby or themselves. You have trusted your body thus far to care for your baby and will learn, with the help of your support team, to trust your body to continue to feed and take care of their baby and yourself. A parent should never feel judged for questions big or small. Think of your support team at My Nourishing Moment, LLC as your fairy godmother, we will be there every time…all you have to do is call.

She has helped me over the last year answering questions that I had with my nursing baby (now 1 year old), with anything from ideas and links to help with breastmilk usage and storage to what to do about cracked nipples with pumping when the baby was teething and I was going back to work. Melisa has given me informational support, emotional support and everything in between. I have felt very comfortable asking her any crazy question that I may have since she has always given me caring and professional answers. I have always felt much better hearing from her and getting answers, ideas, and confirmation that I am doing this breastfeeding journey to the best
of my abilities. I am blessed to be able to have her to turn to when I need any support in my breastfeeding journey.
Melisa was very helpful with guiding me through the troubles that I had breastfeeding my daughter. She answered me very Quickly and provided great resources that helped me nurse. I may have stopped nursing before she was a year and a half of it hadn't of been for her. She would be a great asset to anyone that wants to learn how to nurse or is just getting back into nursing after having Previous child.
Melisa has been such a huge help to me the last 3 months. I had mastitis twice in the first two weeks of my newborn's life. She talked me through everything I could do to help get rid of it and even suggested I see my Doctor when it didn't go away quickly. I found out later that my son had a tongue tie and a lip tie, which I had revised. Melisa continued to be encouraging and help me keep my confidence through learning how to nurse for a second time with my newborn son and teach him about his new mouth. I don't think I could have continued to nurse without Melisa's help!
Melisa has been a great resource and very supportive. I did not think breastfeeding would ever fit into my busy lifestyle. With Melisa's tips I have found the benefits especially the conveniences have out weighted the use formula. ~Jenn (mom of 3, owner of 2 businesses and active community member)
Melisa is the sole reason I have been able to successfully breast feed my last two infants for going on the past three years. She explained to me what to do before I had the baby and answered all questions and helped eased any fears I had about nursing. Melisa was there any time I needed her regardless of time and helped guide through the first couple weeks even If it was just listening to me cry about how tired I was; she was always my biggest cheerleader helping mr adjust and reach my year goal which I achieved and then helping me transition to my next baby that I had when my previous one was 18 months. Anytime I've had a question for me or someone else she always had a answer and if she didn't she find someone that did. Melisa makes it fun and is a wonderful supporter I wouldnt know half of what I do if I wasn't for her, because of her I encourage new mothers and not so new mothers to breast feed now and if they are looking for a consultant I send them her way. She gives her all in what she does and she does it with grace, humor and kindness. She is a true gift to any one she meets.
